Day 1 : TUESDAY, 01/14/20 – SIEM REAP (Arrival)

Upon arrival, welcome at Siem Reap airport by your driver (WITHOUT GUIDE) and check-in at the hotel.

Note: Rooms are available from 2pm.

  • Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 2 : WEDNESDAY, 01/15/20 – SIEM REAP  (B/L)

After breakfast, visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom, a huge architectural complex with the famous Bayon Temple at its center. This mountain-temple was once surrounded by 54 towers. On each of the 37 remaining, 4 enigmatic faces can still be recognized.

Then, explore Baphuon, which was fully restored by a team of French archaeologists after 16 years of work.

In the afternoon, visit Angkor Wat (early-mid 12th century) dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. This magnificent temple-mountain, built by King Suryavarman II is considered as the masterpiece of the Khmer architecture and art.

In the late afternoon, visit a handicraft centre and discover Cambodian natural essences.

The day ends with a surprising circus show combining creativity, energy and originality, all acquired from the Khmer culture.

Angkor, ancient capital of the Khmer Empire
Its mystery lies in these ancient ruins now classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Originally Hindu, the various ruins became gradually Buddhists and were long lost in the tropical jungle. Today, the site impresses majesty and grace on its buildings, and a walk through Angkor is a unique opportunity to go back in time.

Day 3: THURSDAY, 01/16/20 – SIEM REAP (B/L)

After breakfast, drive to Kbal Spean, the river of a thousand lingams, located about 50km north of Siem Reap. On arrival, a 45-minute hike through the jungle, and discovery of the river whose rocky bed is engraved with Apsaras and countless symbols of the god Shiva. In popular belief, lingams brought fertility to the waters that then went on to irrigate the rice fields below.

  • Lunch in a local restaurant

In the afternoon, drive through the famous Bantey Srey Temple the “Citadel of Women”. This small pink sandstone temple (late 10th century) is considered to be a jewel in the crown of classical Khmer art because of its delicate carvings.

Then, return back to Siem Reap through the Cambodian countryside, followed by the visit of the marvelously restored Bantey Samre Temple.

      Day 4: FRIDAY, 01/17/20 – SIEM REAP (B/L)

After breakfast, visit the twin temples of Chau Say Thommanon and Tevoda, the unfinished temple-mountain of Ta Keo, the holy water basin of Srah Srang, and the Banteay Kdei monastery.

Finally, discover the fascinating Ta Phrom Temple, which has been left in much the same condition as it was found – the photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings have probably made it one of the most famous monuments with Angkor Wat and the Bayon.

In the afternoon, pick-up the official T-shirt with number. The rest of the day is at leisure.

The Day is at leisure in Siem Reap

Excursion to Tonle Sap Lake : supplement 50 Euros/person

Very early in the morning, around 6:30 am, departure for Kompong Khleang, a village located 50 km from Siem Reap, surrounded by a flooded forest, and which includes one of the largest lake communities in the Tonle Sap, living mainly from fishing. On arrival, boarding small boats to discover the daily life of the villagers. Stop in a village with a Vietnamese community and visit the smoked fish factory. This part of the lake also shelters surprising houses on stilts that can rise, in the dry season, to more than 10 meters above the ground.

Back to Siem Reap in the late morning.

Day 7: MONDAY, 01/20/20 – SIEM REAP (Departure) (B)

After breakfast, depending on the flight schedule, transfer to the airport by your driver (WITHOUT GUIDE) for the departure flight.

Note: Rooms shall be released by 12pm (noon).
