HANOI / HALONG BAY
by Hanoi with cruise on Halong Bay

HANOI – HOA LU – HALONG – HANOI – SIEM REAP

Day – 1 : SATURDAY, 11/01/20 – HANOI (Arrival)                    (Dinner – D)

HOAN KIEM LAKE

On arrival at Hanoi, pick-up by your local guide, then transfer to your selected hotel by private car.

Note: Rooms are available from 2pm.

Enjoy a one-hour rickshaw tour of the capital and spend some time wandering in the old quarter and its antique shops. Then visit Ngoc Son Temple beautifully situated on Hoan Kiem Lake, and which is reached by a charming wooden bridge.

Day – 2 : SUNDAY, 12/01/20 – HANOI – HOA LU                      (Breakfast – B / Lunch – L)

After breakfast, visit the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university.

Then, drive through the countryside to Hoa Lu, the ancient 10th century capital of Vietnam. On arrival, visit Dinh and Le Dynasty Temples. These two temples in the shape of Chinese character were built in 17th century.

  • Lunch at local restaurant

In the afternoon, enjoy a bicycle ride to Bich Dong Pagoda, built at the beginning of the Le Dynasty, and continue to Thung Nang pier. Then, board on a small sampan boat for a spectacular 2-hour trip through one cave and beautiful rural sceneries of limestone cliffs and rice paddies.

  • Overnight in Hoa Lu.

Day – 3 : MONDAY, 13/01/20 – HOA LU – HALONG                 (B / L / D)

HA LONG BAY

In the morning, travel by road to the majestic Halong Bay, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Arrive in Halong by midday and board on a junk for a memorable cruise through the mystical Halong Bay.

  • Lunch on board

In the afternoon, navigation between the karts, some of which display extraordinary shapes. Then a culinary activity on board: demonstration of the famous Vietnamese egg roll recipe (Nem Ran).

At night, the squid fishing is open. This is an opportunity to learn the Vietnamese fishing techniques.

  • Dinner and overnight on junk

Day – 4 : TUESDAY, 14/01/20 – HALONG – HANOI – FLIGHT TO SIEM REAP               (Brunch)

After the breakfast, junk resumes its course. During the morning, it crosses the bay and stop to visit a natural cave.

Brunch will be served on board before returning on the coast around 11h00 and transfer by road to Hanoi airport for the evening flight to Siem Reap (VN835//HAN-REP//17H55-19H40)

On arrival, pick-up and transfer to your selected hotel.

Day – 4 : TUESDAY, 14/01/20 – SIEM REAP (Arrival)

Upon arrival, welcome at Siem Reap airport by your driver (WITHOUT GUIDE) and check-in at the hotel.

Note: Rooms are available from 2pm.

  • Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day – 5 : WEDNESDAY, 15/01/20 – SIEM REAP             (B / L)

BAYON TEMPLE

After breakfast, visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom, a huge architectural complex with the famous Bayon Temple at its center. This mountain-temple was once surrounded by 54 towers. On each of the 37 remaining, 4 enigmatic faces can still be recognized. Then, explore Baphuon, which was fully restored by a team of French archaeologists after 16 years of work.

  • Lunch at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, visit Angkor Wat (early-mid 12th century) dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. This magnificent temple-mountain, built by King Suryavarman II is considered as the masterpiece of the Khmer architecture and art. Late in the afternoon, visit a local artist’s studio.

The day ends with a surprising circus show combining creativity, energy and originality, all acquired from the Khmer culture.

Angkor, ancient capital of the Khmer Empire
Its mystery lies in these ancient ruins now classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Originally Hindu, the various ruins became gradually Buddhists and were long lost in the tropical jungle. Today, the site impresses majesty and grace on its buildings, and a walk through Angkor is a unique opportunity to go back in time.

Day – 6 : THURSDAY, 16/01/20 – SIEM REAP                (B / L)

After breakfast, drive to Kbal Spean, the “River of a Thousand Lingas”, located about 50 km north of Siem Reap.

Upon arrival, walk through the forest (45 minutes) and explore the river where the bedrocks are engraved with Apsaras and countless symbols of the god Shiva.  It was believed that the linga fertilized the water that irrigated the rice fields underneath.

  • Lunch at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, drive through the Bantey Srey Temple, the Citadel of Women. This small pink sandstone temple is considered to be a jewel in the crown of classical Khmer art because of its delicate carvings.

Then, return back to Siem Reap through the Cambodian countryside, followed by the visit of the marvelously restored Bantey Samre Temple.

Day – 7 : FRIDAY, 17/01/20 – SIEM REAP                       (B / L)

After breakfast, visit the twin temples of Chau Say Thommanon and Tevoda, the unfinished temple-mountain of Ta Keo, the holy water basin of Srah Srang, and the Banteay Kdei monastery.

Finally, discover the Ta Phrom Temple, which has been left in much the same condition as it was found – the photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle have made it one of the most famous monuments with Angkor Wat.

  • Lunch at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, pick-up the official T-shirt with number. The rest of the day is at leisure.

After breakfast, depending on the flight schedule, transfer to the airport by your driver (WITHOUT GUIDE) for the departure flight.

Note: Rooms shall be released by 12 pm (noon).
