HUMANITARIAN

AND IF WE RUN FOR A GOOD CAUSE:

We will be running in a part of the world where even though poverty is decreasing, a part of the population lives below the poverty line and struggles to survive on less than one US dollar a day. Poverty is particularly prevalent in rural areas and among children, who make up more than half the country’s population. Most Cambodian children suffer from malnutrition: 45 per cent of children show signs of moderate or severe stunting (source: UNICEF).

As every year, SDPO, already a godfather of the Mr Red Nose Association, and all the UTA runners participate in their own way to help the most destitute. 3 NGOs, schools, villages benefit from humanitarian aid in the form of financial donations or clothes, school supplies, toys…

The SDPO team and thanks to a donation from a generous donor registered on the UTA 2023, Michel Bach, have participated in the reconstruction of the bridge at Banteay Samre. This bridge, named by the runners “Pont Saint Michel”, will undoubtedly help improve the lives of Cambodian villagers.
